Chevrolet CAPTIVA

Chevrolet Captiva
It all started in an experimental workshop in a Detroit garage and it continues today in garages all over the world. William Durant, a successful buggy manufacturer from Flint, Michigan, asked Louis Chevrolet, a well known car racer, to help him design a car for the general public. Chevrolet got named after its designer because Durant liked the sound of the name and because Chevrolet was a prominent name in motor sports.

The company was established in 1911, and the bowtie logo first appeared in 1914. Legend maintains that the bowtie shape was inspired by a pattern of wallpaper in a Paris hotel room. William Durant reportedly detached a small piece and kept it in his wallet, waiting for the day he’d put it to use. The bowtie has, since then, become an advertising icon, and is still the marquee of today's Chevrolet.

 About honda (in INDIA)

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., (HSCI) was incorporated in December 1995 as a joint venture between Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Japan and Siel Limited, a Siddharth Shriram Group company, with a commitment to providing Honda’s latest passenger car models and technologies, to the Indian customers. The total investment made by the company in India till date is Rs 1620 crores in Greater Noida plant and Rs 784 crores in Tapukara plant.

HSCI’s first state-of-the-art manufacturing unit was set up at Greater Noida, U.P in 1997. The green-field project is spread across 150 acres of land (over 6,00,000 sq. m.). The annual capacity of this facility is 100,000 units. The company’s second manufacturing facility is in Tapukara, Rajasthan. This facility is spread over 600 acres and will have an initial production capacity of 60,000 units per annum, with an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore. The first phase of this facility was inaugurated in September 2008.

The company’s product range includes Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord which are produced at the Greater Noida facility with an indigenization level of 77%, 76%, 74% and 28% respectively. The CR-V is imported from Japan as Completely Built Units. Honda’s models are strongly associated with advanced design and technology, apart from its established qualities of durability, reliability and fuel-efficiency.

About Honda Civic
The Civic is Honda’s largest selling model globally and is now sold in approximately 160 nations and regions worldwide. Honda Civic was launched in India in July 2006 which became a runaway success and was also awarded the “Indian Car of the Year” in 2007.

The new Civic was launched in September 2009 with more aggressive and sportier look. The new V grade Civic juxtaposes Honda’s advanced technology with striking design. The new Curved 5 Point Metallic Front Grille and restyled Front Sporty Bumper add to a pulsating and aggressive appeal of the car. The introduction of stylized Dark Smokey Headlights & Crystalline Octagonal Tail Lights enhances the contemporary look of the car. New Civic is available in 3 variants – SMT, VMT & VAT.

The Honda Civic is a line of subcompact and subsequently compact cars made and manufactured by Honda. The Civic, along with the Accord and Prelude, comprised Honda's vehicles sold in North America until the 1990s, when the model lineup was expanded. Having gone through several generational changes, the Civic has become larger and more upmarket, and it currently slots between the Fit and Accord.

It was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door model, followed by a three-door hatchback that September. With the transverse engine mounting of its 1169 cc engine and front-wheel drive like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions. Early models of the Civic typically included a basic AM radio, heater, foam-cushioned plastic trim, two-speed wipers, and painted steel rims with a chromed wheel nut cap. As the years went by, it has become much more upscale with options such as air conditioning, power locks, power windows, leather upholstery, satellite-linked navigation, and a six-speed manual transmission. Initially gaining a reputation for being fuel-efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly, later iterations have become known for performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type-R, Civic GTi and Civic SiR.

The Civic has been rebadged for international markets with such models as the Honda Ballade and Honda Domani/Acura EL. The Civic platform also served as the basis for the CR-X sport compact, the CR-X del Sol targa convertible, and the CR-V compact SUV.

As of 2006, a total of 16.5 million Civics had been sold worldwide, with 7.3 million of them in the United States. By 2010, Civic has been the top-selling car in Canada for thirteen years. With high gas prices and a weak economy in June 2008, the Civic supplanted the Ford F-Series to become the top-selling vehicle in the United States for that month.

In Japan, production of non-hybrid Civic for domestic market ended in August 2010, production of Civic hybrid for home market ended in December 2010. In recent years, customers shifted to minivans and compact cars like Honda Fit. Honda launched Fit hybrid in October in Japan. However, production of Civic and Civic hybrid for export markets will continue.
